Jefferson County Memorial Park Summer Tennis
2008 - A Year In Review
One hundred and ninety-two children participated in the park lessons and leagues. The Blue Jays and Cubs won the Firecracker Tournament. The Tigers and Vikings won the Regular season championship. The Tigers and Cubs won the league playoff championships. All Stars, family doubles, trophy tournament, and USTA tournaments concluded a successful summer.
The middle school club tennis program continued its success under the direction of Laura Barr and Garland Ott. Cliff Jones and Harry Barker headed up the newly formed USTA team tennis program.
A special thanks to the tennis workers for a great job with the children this year. We hope to see many of them back in 2009. Thanks to all players and families for a great summer on the courts.
The five USTA tournaments saw increased participation on the local and tri-state area. Keith and Michelle Mumaw have volunteered much time to the online entries and the computer draw and results.
The Jefferson Co. Memorial Park will no longer receive a direct assistance from the United Way. If you desire your United Way contribution to go whole or in part to the park, you must inform the United Way of your intentions.
Sincerely,
Glenn Edwards
